About Unicancer
Unicancer is the only hospital network fully dedicated to the fight against cancer, and the only national hospital federation dedicated to oncology. It brings together the 18 French comprehensive cancer centres (Fcccs), non-profit private healthcare facilities spread over 20 hospital sites in France, along with Institut du Cancer Avignon-Provence (ICAP), as an affiliated centre. French Comprehensive Cancer Centres treat almost 530,000 patients per year (short-stay, home hospital and outpatient care).
Unicancer is the first academic sponsor of clinical trials in oncology in Europe, sponsoring 106 active clinical trials, including almost 7,600 patients and with 63,000 patients recorded in the ESME database.
Recognised as leader in research in France, the Unicancer network is world-renowned. It produces one third of French international publications in oncology (source: bibliometric study/Thomson Reuters). In total, almost 700 clinical trials (inclusions or follow-up) were sponsored by the Unicancer network in 2020. More than 14% of FCCCs’ patients are included in clinical trials and more than half of hospital clinical research programmes are allotted to FCCCs.
The 18 French Comprehensive Cancer Centres and Unicancer R&D division are ISO 9001-certified.
